Matthew 26:14-27:66

FROM THE DESK OF DEACON MIKE

+ It is hard to believe it is Holy Week already. The Church is decorated for Palm Sunday and plans are to decorate for the Three days of the Triduum as well. These pictures will be available online on the website as well as Facebook. And you may stop in to see them. I have been praying daily for all, the parish, and all those who are directly involved in this virus. à

Those with the virus, their caregivers as well as the health care professionals who are literally putting their lives on the line.

Also I ask special prayers for parents who are home schooling their children right now.

I want to thank all of you who have continued using your envelopes and sending in donations. Lights are turned off; heat is turned to a minimum and I also had to let our maintenance man go temporarily. This was not an easy decision but financially prudent.

We did have a funeral here a few weeks ago, I did the service as our Priests are elderly and I really did not want them coming out for health reasons. Nine-year-old Ava Rose Burgos was buried from here. It was a very sad funeral but know that it was not the Virus. Pray for the family.

The Church will continue to be open for Private devotion and prayer.

During Holy week we will be Open on:

THURSDAY EVENING from 5-8 for Eucharistic Adoration as usually after Mass we have the Altar of Repose where the Eucharist is held that night.

On GOOD FRIDAYthe Cross will be in the middle of the altar for Private prayers from 600pm until 800 pm.

EASTER SUNDAY, we will be open from 900 am until 100 pm.

Certainly, this is not how we wanted to spend Holy Week, but we will survive this as a parish. I will be putting on Facebook and the Website if I can, all celebrations this week. Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter.

One final note, since we have been cancelling Masses, I am waiting for the Diocese for advice as to what to do with the Masses that you have scheduled for the deceased. We do not have many openings for the rest of the year so I am waiting for some advice. Thank you for your patience.

If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see online or Facebook let me know.

RICE BOWL BOXES CAN BE BROUGHT TO THE RECTORY DURING NORMAL OFFICE HOURS – Please call before visiting –s you all know the Coronavirus is affecting all aspects of our country including the Catholic Church. The Church wants us all to be safe until the danger is over.

We are able to keep the doors open to the church to visit and pray while maintaining a safe distance from each other.  So I will have the doors open to the church on Friday Evening from 600-800 if you wish to pray the Stations of the Cross in Private or in small groups, or perhaps to spend time in the Marian Chapel.  The Church will also be open Sunday Morning from 9 am until noon if you wish to come in to pray.  Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be available from 1000am until 1200 noon and 500pm until 800pm on Mondays.  If your family wishes to come at other times of the week, please let me know and I will have the doors open for you. I encourage to either come to Church to pray or pray as a family at home as together we pray for a speedy end to this crisis.

As you know I do not talk about collections very often as our parish is very giving and generous.  However with no masses being offered, no collections take place, which also means no money coming in to pay our bills. We still must pay our utilities and other financial obligations. Please consider mailing your donations to the Parish.  The heat is turned down, lights are being turned off,  yet we still have financial obligations.
